About the Grassroots
Animal Rights Summit
The Grassroots Animal Rights Summit was conceived by a coalition of grassroots pressure campaigning organizations: Animal Activism Collective (AAC), the Coalition to Abolish the Fur Trade (CAFT), and the International Council for Animal Welfare (ICAW). It is designed to train, connect, and build the growing community of grassroots animal rights activists to be able to more effectively drive change. Come join our community, start your activism journey, make new connections, learn new skills, and take action for animals.
Meet the coalition
ICAW
The mission of the International Council for Animal Welfare (ICAW) is to reduce as much animal suffering as possible by waging and winning aggressive corporate campaigns against the world’s largest food companies. Our team is composed of some of the most experienced and skilled animal welfare campaigners. We run effective pressure campaigns by combining disruptive grassroots actions, cutting edge digital campaigns tools, and innovative campaign assets.
ICAW focuses exclusively on issues that reduce a tremendous amount of suffering and/or impact a tremendous amount of animals, such as ending battery cages for egg laying hens and ending the worst forms of abuse in global shrimp production.
CAFT
CAFT is building a global movement to end the killing of animals for fur by collapsing the retail market, one company at a time. Since 2020, it has secured fur-free commitments from over 15 companies, representing more than 100 brands and billions in market value, including major victories against Marc Jacobs, Max Mara, and Alexander Wang. In 2025, shortly after becoming a nonprofit, CAFT convinced Condé Nast, publisher of Vogue and Vanity Fair, to adopt a global fur-free policy. Operating in over 50 cities worldwide, CAFT runs high-impact, decentralized campaigns and trains local activists to lead their own initiatives. Our model builds leadership from the ground up, creating skilled organizers who sustain long-term movement growth. CAFT’s proven success has made it a central force in animal rights campaigning, attracting activists who trust our strategy and results. More than a campaigning organization, CAFT is a movement builder, fostering grassroots networks and providing a replicable model for systemic change that strengthens the global fight for animal liberation.
AAC
AAC is dedicated to equipping aspiring activists with the skills, knowledge, and experience needed to effectively fight for animals. Through our hands-on training programs and large-scale activist convergences across the U.S., we’re building the most educated, effective, and connected grassroots movement in animal rights history.
Since our founding in 2020, AAC has cultivated one of the largest and most connected networks of animal rights activists in the country. With a strong presence nationwide, we’ve trained and mobilized hundreds of effective advocates who are driving progress on pro-animal laws, policies, and some of the most challenging animal welfare campaigns in the movement today.
